BVCOE Mozilla Summer Code Party, New Delhi

At the Mozilla Delhi/NCR monthly meet-up organized in June, Mozilla Rep Kinshuk Sunil introduced the very concept of Mozilla Summer Code Party and Webmaker to the Student Reps, which instigated the idea of encouraging those, who “USE” the web but do not know the “WORKING” behind it, to learn "how web works" and the associated technologies.

With the same thought in mind, we at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering, New Delhi, conducted the Mozilla Summer Code Party in the last week of August, 2012.

We tried to make it as close to the original concept of kitchen tables and small-group learning as we could.

The Day 1 of the event was 27th of August, the Monday, when the event kick-started with an introductory session on the concept of Mozilla Summer Code Party, its agenda and the Mozilla Student Reps program.

This was followed by introduction to the Summer of Code by the GSoC-er, Rishab Arora from the host college. He talked about how to proceed and quoted instances from his own GSoC experience this year. Thereafter, Kinshuk Sunil had a real long interaction on Open Source and Open Web with the participating audience and not only demonstrated various examples from the current scenario to make the beliefs of the Open Community valid but also cleared the doubts of the audience on the concept.

The day ended with a session on Wordpress by the organizers, Devesh Batra and Akshay Katyal.

Moz Interaction @ Hyderabad

When man first harnessed fire, no one recorded it. But when Neil Armstrong took that first small step on the moon in July 1969, an entire globe was watching.

When i started Freelancing with Mozilla about 4-5 years ago I never thought that the word 'Mozilla' would be one of the meaning of my life. Its feels amazing to be a Mozillian .It feels even better when I put my efforts into real time work and come up with something fruitful for the development of Mozilla Community , the Mozilla Mission , the Mozilla Projects & the Open Web.
With the presence of Diverse crowd working in Different Web Projects the Discussion had to be Serious & fruitful too.I had named this event as 'Moz Interaction' as it was all about the interaction with the Tech Gigs about the Mozilla Mission , Mozilla Projects like Firefox OS(B2G) , Webmaker & Firefox Desktop. It all started at 6 PM when everyone was tired due to the workload factor. So we started with the snacks & energy Drinks as food was not allowed in the discussion area.
First of all we started with Firefox itself and I came to know that about 70% of the projects in which my collegues were working supports default browser as Firefox. The properties like Support for Flash in Firefox Andriod ,Quick Launch , Native support ,Sync , Do not Track etc were discussed. Now the concluding point was:-
1-If we are so good, Why are we at No 2.
