Webmaker Hackjam @ Jodhpur

Mozilla Webmaker is an unique event of its kind. Bringing people together and spreading the awareness about the open web and how to make stuff for the web is an amazing idea. Here at 19th August, 2012 in IIT Rajasthan, we organised a Mozilla Webmaker Hackjam.

It was the a different experience all together. As this was the first Mozilla event I was organising inspired by the rest of the Mozilla Reps in the country. Things went very well.

We started of with the basics of HTML/CSS and then moved on to the usage of Firefox Developer Tools for building webpages. To make things interesting a major part of the session was dedicated to JavaScript and libraries like jQuery, so people can learn to build modern websites. Concepts of AJAX and JSON were also talked about with each of the attendees and building it with their own hands. After all nothing is better than the first hand experience! Finally to demonstrate the usefulness of these technologies, a Twitter search application was made by the usage of Twitter APIs and JavaScript entirely.

The detailed blog post on the event with a few photographs can be found at http://thelimbeck.wordpress.com/2012/09/24/a-night-of-hacking-on-the-web/.

MOZPARTY @ WARANGAL

Mozilla Community Warangal has celebrated end of Mozilla summer Code Party at SURABHI BAKERS KU, Warangal.  I got inspired by the reps and  by Mozilla Carnival Pune, finally hosted one. The event was great successful one. This is my first open event in Warangal.  12 Students have attended from different corners of the city. I started the party by the introduction of open source, I told the history and facts of Mozilla Firefox. I’ve explained them Mozilla’s mission, its products and projects. Then I moved my discussion towards localization in which all the students would like to contribute, finally introduced them Mozilla web maker projects and tools of Mozilla like thimble. Then hacked many WebPages through x-ray goggles and enjoyed a lot.

I ordered a cake last night of Mozilla summer code party’s logo, after hacking and enjoying we cut cake, had yummy snacks and finally had many snapshots.

I would like to thank Specially to Gautham Raj who has guided me all the way, I also thank faisal sir to share ankit’s  ppt on open source and Mozilla and I thank hema for making all the arrangements for the party and I thank all the students who have participated in the party and making it a great successful one.
