Mozilla Community Erode Meetup

Hey all ,

            I am excited to share my experience of my first Mozilla sponsored event held last Sunday (July – 1 – 2012 ). It is also the first ever Mozilla community Meetup in Erode , on the same day we also inaugurated Mozilla Erode Community.

            It was a beautiful Sunday , I expected participant count around 13 but the turn up was not bad there were about 10 participants among which majority are student reps. Program scheduled to kick off by 11 AM due to few late arrival of participants , we are   forced to start the program by 20 min late.

            I started with the Introduction on FOSS and Mozilla , not even I expanded the term FOSS but the participants already started to shootout their questions.After clarifying their doubts and I proceed with my introduction session. Participants kept on asking questions and hence I ended the Introduction session by 12.30. Next we had a break to have a drink to refresh our self.

            Next we , inaugurated and welcomed Mozilla Erode Community with a cut on the cake. We made a little girl ( next generation Web Maker ) to cut the cake and we all had a taste of it.

            Next , I resumed the program with a small talk on Mozilla L10n effort and it’s needs , participants gave good response and they are happy to help me in my effort of making a Aurora Tamil.This session goes for about 20 min before we are into Mozilla Summer Code Party.

            Next , it’z party time..I started with a small info about Mozilla Web maker initiative and it’s Mission of making “Millions of Web Consumers into Web Makers “ followed up with a live demo on using the awesome web maker tools. During this session we are joined by one of the computer teacher of a nearby school and she is thrilled to take web making to her students.

           After an awesome session with Mozilla Web Maker tools , we had a small discussion regarding the next meetup and importantly to improve the localization effort. ” we decided to have Localization Sprints every Sunday in a shop which has 4 computers with internet connection” .

          Next , we took few group clicks and had our lunch by 2.45 PM. Initially , it is planned as a program for two hours but it happens to be a program of 4 hours. Had our yummy lunch and ended a  great day of Mozilla Meetup.

          You can expect more awesome activities from Mozilla Erode in the upcoming months , first such thing will be Tamil Aurora hopefully.
