BVCOE Mozilla Summer Code Party, New Delhi

At the Mozilla Delhi/NCR monthly meet-up organized in June, Mozilla Rep Kinshuk Sunil introduced the very concept of Mozilla Summer Code Party and Webmaker to the Student Reps, which instigated the idea of encouraging those, who “USE” the web but do not know the “WORKING” behind it, to learn "how web works" and the associated technologies.

With the same thought in mind, we at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering, New Delhi, conducted the Mozilla Summer Code Party in the last week of August, 2012.

We tried to make it as close to the original concept of kitchen tables and small-group learning as we could.

The Day 1 of the event was 27th of August, the Monday, when the event kick-started with an introductory session on the concept of Mozilla Summer Code Party, its agenda and the Mozilla Student Reps program.

This was followed by introduction to the Summer of Code by the GSoC-er, Rishab Arora from the host college. He talked about how to proceed and quoted instances from his own GSoC experience this year. Thereafter, Kinshuk Sunil had a real long interaction on Open Source and Open Web with the participating audience and not only demonstrated various examples from the current scenario to make the beliefs of the Open Community valid but also cleared the doubts of the audience on the concept.

The day ended with a session on Wordpress by the organizers, Devesh Batra and Akshay Katyal.
