This summer Mozilla launching a web maker program as a part of “MOZILLA SUMMER CODE PARTY”.Mozilla Summer Code Party and Web Maker program mainly focus on the goal of making “WEB CONSUMERS into WEB MAKERS” through various types of events like Hack jam , Kitchen Table , Pop Up. I am one of the ReMo from Tamilnadu and one and only ReMo from Erode. There is not much exposure about Mozilla and FOSS in my Region. So, it’s time to take things seriously. I planned for Mozilla Summer Code Party in Erode starting on June 23 and goes on till Aug 30.

Background:
At the Mozilla India community meetup at Pune, from the discussion that we had with the attendees, it is clear that building a fully functional regional website that caters the needs of the regional community and users in India, should be our top priority.

As of now, mozillaindia.org is developed and maintained by one of our active contributor, a Mozilla Rep(former student rep), Abhishek Nagar of Kashipur Networks for the past one year. We are very thankful to him for keep it running. :) So far, the regional website is proved to be helpul and serving the purpose with its various functionalities(profile creation, community map, events calender, blog, in-built chat, links to Mozilla projetcs and other documentation). we managed to accomplish several things using the website.

We are delighted to prevail up on the launch of Mozilla India! We are part of the global community of Mozilla Foundation, founded to manifest the state of Mozilla community in India.

Our Mission:
Mozilla India is a community driven initiative to work together on a well defined goals with a purpose to improve and grow. We as a community aim to reach end users, contributors with various resources and guide them about the projects. We hope to make it easier for anyone to participate and help them focus on the projects they choose to get involve and advive them on getting started. Raise awareness on the Mozilla mission, introduce Mozilla to educational institutions, government organizations and corporate companies, increase PR activities. Create momentum for action and strive to keep the web open and at the same time increase the market share in India.
